Meet James - RMN Connect with me on Linked In

As a mental health nurse, I have had a broad range of experience over the course of five years. Most recently working in elderly care, with Dementia, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. I have been working as a private nurse (RMN) since 2012 for different organizations and also for my own company (PSS).

Most recently, I have been working with the historic Royal Star and Garter Care Home (established after WWI for injured veterans of the war), on their pioneering dementia unit, as a member of the nursing team, participating in the implementation of the "Dementia Care Matters" model.

Prior to this I worked with BUPA, as part of their Dementia team in Wimbledon, providing a high quality of care, and making significant improvements within that environment for around 6 months.

In 2012 I had a contract, arranged with the Libyan Embassy, managing a project treating three patients, veterans of the Gaddafi conflict, with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, my role here was as a consultant RMN, creating an effective care structure, and managing the clients care. I was later offered a two year contract in Budapest to continue the care.

I was employed as a Registered Mental Health Nurse on the Sir William Gower’s Unit which falls under the umbrella of the Epilepsy Society and UCLH, where I worked for 7 years, both as a support worker, prior to qualifying as an RMN.

My other areas of experience include -

A.E and school for children with autism. Mental Health – Assessment, PICU, CMHT, Rehabilitation, Low, Medium and High security (Broadmoor Hospital).

I trained at Broadmoor Hospital, working with people that were acutely psychotic, with serious forensic backgrounds: including high profile serial murderers. I learned here how to help people with severe personality disorder, who were at increased risk of suicide and also the successful management of violent or aggressive behaviour.

I've always placed the people in my care first and foremost in all my actions, and ensured that the best quality of care is provided, to the best of my ability.
