Here at PSS we pride ourselves on recruiting and promoting the best people, those who demonstrate real passion and commitment to their profession and the advancement of mental health and healthcare services.

By joining us, you will be joining an innovative and dedicated group of professionals that aim to dispel the stereotype of healthcare agencies, and the fly-by-night individuals that they often employ, we offer work, and will endeavour to seek work for all professional staff that have experience working in mental health, and general healthcare from HCAs to RGNs and RMNs, with specialist expertise including Cognitive Behavioural Therapists and occasionally Psychiatrists. In addition we provide a platform for you to promote yourself to prospective clients, with an online profile accessed by lots of potential employers.

The process is simple, click on the green “Join Us” tab above, to begin your application, we aim to register you with minimal fuss. All the forms are completed online, your documents can be uploaded, and a photo (don't worry if your a technophobe we have paper forms too).

If this is your first contact with us, we will need to arrange an interview, you will be contacted beforehand to discuss the necessary documentation that will be required. If you have been approached by us, then we will already be familiar with the quality of your work, this makes the recruitment process easier.

Its a formal, but straightforward process, with the primary purpose of establishing your suitability to join us, and then getting you on board, and ready to work. The process will include a reference check, and also DBS clearance, if you don't have a DBS certificate less than six months old we will need to apply for a new one, which we can organise for a non refundable fee of £65 (this is the fee charged by an accredited DBS umbrella company, not us).

Once you have your DBS you can subscribe to the DBS renewal service, which allows you to automatically renew annually at a cost of £13, and means that multiple employers can view your DBS avoiding the cost of repeated applications and the lengthy waiting time. This must be done within 14 days of receiving your DBS certificate, via the DBS website.

Our policies in relation to the Handling of DBS Information, the Recruitment of Offenders and the DBS Code of Conduct can be accessed via the links. We have an open and non-judgmental approach toward all our applicants, all are welcome, and will be given due consideration.

We are pleased to recommend an online training provider, Osmosis. We encourage people to complete the mandatory training offered-although it can seem tedious - many employers will insist on it, and topping up your knowledge is always helpful. We accept training certificates from most major educational bodies, online trainers and large employers and organisations, most workers affiliated with other employers will already meet the training requirements!

An annual appraisal with one of the team, (conducted over the telephone, or in person) and regular opportunities for supervision and support are offered- particularly when engaged in longer term placements, to keep your professional development plans up-to-speed: fulfilling your obligations in line with the NMC and the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework. By doing so, we can identify your development goals and objectives, and take action to achieve them.

… as a member of the PSS workforce, you have the option to Login and create a user profile, which will be advertised on the website, and will act as an online CV. It will provide a platform for you to promote your services, skills and expertise. it is up to you how you wish to structure it, you can upload a photograph, and if you would like to link it to your “Linkedin” account, or Facebook, we will do this for you. You don't need to do this, to register for work. You can remove your profile at any time. It is created alongside your application, and is simply an extension of it -  We will approve the content prior to going live with it. Our clients that you work with are invited to add testimonials to your individual page/profile - further improving your work prospects, and recognising your hard work and commitment. This is important to us, and pivotal to our success as a business and your success as an individual.

When a client expresses an interest, we will arrange an interview and organise work with your approval, and on your behalf, subject to your availability. 

We will also seek to find you work in the conventional way, through our database of clients.

Prior to commencing work, we will agree a PayRate: our profit margin per hour is considerably lower than other agencies, meaning that we can pay you a higher rate, and the client receives a better calibre of worker for less than a large agency might charge … we don't focus on the bottom line - we want people paid fairly, and we charge fairly.
